Our annual Fall Festival is coming soon!

Congratulations to Ms. Jody McClenny and Ms. Anna Brooks!

The new principal and assistant principal for Newport Elementary has been announced. From the press releases...

Our new principal:

Jody McClenney has served as the assistant principal at Newport Elementary School since 2013. She joined the school system in 2001 as a first grade teacher at Newport Elementary School. Mrs. McClenny is the school system’s current Assistant Principal of the Year. She was named Carteret County’s Teacher of the Year in 2013.

Mrs. McClenny holds an undergraduate degree from Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, Tennessee. She earned a master’s in school administration from East Carolina University.

Our new assistant principal:

Anna Brooks is currently a fifth grade reading teacher and administrative intern at Newport Elementary School. She joined the staff at the school in 2013. Prior to that, Ms. Brooks taught eighth grade at Broad Creek Middle School. Ms. Brooks has also taught in the Davidson County Schools and in the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools.

Ms. Brooks holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from High Point University and a master’s degree in school administration from Appalachian State University.

Obviously both are very well known at Newport Elementary and we look forward to their leadership as we move into an exciting new school year.
